Who's your daddy?!

When I got home from the gym today, Jay (my younger brother) excitedly showed me a black hoodie with a cartoon of some guy with glasses printed on it. Below the image were the words "Adam Smith is my homeboy".

Jay: I have a new jacket!
Me: Um, okay. Who the hell is Adam Smith?
Jay: It's Ay-dam. He's known as the Father of Economics...
Me: Whut.
Jay: It's our college jacket.
Me: Ang nerdy naman. That's like me walking around campus wearing a jacket saying "Bill Gates is my homeboy" or "Steve Jobs is my homeboy".

*pause*

Me: Okay, wait. Mali. Who's the Father of Computers? I forgot.

I ended up googling it just now because for the life of me I JUST COULDN'T REMEMBER WHAT I "LEARNED" IN COLLEGE (hahaha), and I couldn't sleep just thinking about it. And now I remember. It's Charles Babbage. I kept thinking the name had an A and a D also, but I guess I was thinking of Ada the programming language. (Nosebleed na ba? Sorry!) So. That was the point of this blog entry, to put the wheels turning in my head to a stop.

And to make this post even more nerdy! I've compiled a list of "fathers" hahahaha.
  • RenĂ© Descartes - The Father of Modern Mathematics
  • William Tyndale - The Father of English Prose
  • Aristophanes - The Father of Comedy
  • German Moreno - The Father of That's Entertainment
WTF am I thinking, making a list. Kulang na nga sa tulog eh. Tulog na nga ako.

First time ko ma-stuck sa elevator today.

Kamowwwwn manong guard.

Hehehe.

I'm sorry manong guard.  Di na kita tatarayan.

Our family spent Christmas with my maternal grandparents in Medellin, Cebu for the first time. Usually we only go there in time for their fiesta, but this was different. My mom told us that she was worried about my grandfather who had just recently developed a heart disease, and she wanted to spend his birthday, which happens to be on Christmas day, with them (My grandparents are already weak, and very uncomfortable with travelling). Needless to say, I ate a lot. I still haven't weighed myself because I'm scared, hahaha. For those of you who don't know, I have this weird habit of weighing myself before and after meals. Which everyone knows is pointless, really.

Random details about our 3-day stay with the grandparents )
On the fourth day, we moved to the city and stayed at the Marriott in Cebu. This is how we usually end our Cebu trips, just so we don't harass ourselves in rushing to the airport. :P And besides, we love that hotel. Especially the breakfast buffet. ;)

I also got to try out the Cebu branch of Fitness First for the first time! I did two consecutive classes, BodyJam and BodyAttack, until I had a huge coughing fit (I'm still sick. Hehehe hindi rin ako adik sa gym.). There was this lady who tried to talk to me in Bisaya during one of the water breaks. I just smiled at her and nodded, hahaha! I wonder what she said. Usually I have my sister translate for me, but I went to the gym alone.

Ayon, mahaba-habang break din. Jay was so funny when he finally stepped foot in our house. He screamed, "Oh my God, TECHNOLOGY!" while turning his laptop on. Then he started singing, "You Are So Beautiful", replacing the word "you" with "YouTube".

"YouTube is everything I hope for!" BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

Breakfast: Corned beef at isang baunan-ful (hehe) ng kanin.
Lunch: Sisig, inihaw na pusit, salmon, pinakbet and chicken kebabs at Gerry's.
Dinner: Pizza, pasta, and salad at Avenetto. And four humongous revel bars for dessert. Shet.

Something really embarrassing happened to me at the gym. I won't go into detail, but it involved my ass facing the mirror, and my pants almost falling down. Seriously, now that I'm thinking about it, hindi pa masyadong detalyado yang description ko. Hahaha!

I really hope everybody was too busy working out and that nobody noticed anything. :p

Ang saya ng company outing. I cannot stress that enough. I overpacked though - I brought towels and everything - because I didn't expect that we'd be staying in a really nice hotel. I was used to tightly budgeted outings with my previous officemates. Okay, screw euphemisms, I mean tightly budgeted as in cheap, as in we'd only pay for rooms that weren't even clean. Hahaha.

Will post pics up on my Multiply once I'm done picking out which shots to steal from my officemates, hehehe. Which could take a while, since there are over 1,600 pictures, and those don't even include the pictures from Sir Raymond's and the ALFA peeps' cameras! I wasn't able to use my camera kasi tuluyan na siyang nasira. I have a few shots from my cellphone camera though.

I should have rode the other bus back to the office along with the ALFA peeps. The last time I've been with them before the outing was over a month ago when they came to the office for the CEO's birthday. But no, pinagpalit ko sila sa pantalon. Hahaha. The ALFA bus had stopovers so I assumed the bus would arrive at Taipan place late. It didn't. They arrived only like 15 minutes later than us. (Long story long, hehehe: I had to exchange these pants that I bought during the first day of the Megamall 3-day sale. I was actually on my way to see my dad at the cinemas but got sidetracked by one of the stalls that had really nice and cheap pants. Since I was in a hurry, and there were no fitting areas around, I just grabbed a Large and paid for it. The material was stretchy anyway. When I got home, I realized the pants were HUGE. I ended up giving the pants to my sister since I wasn't able to exchange the pants anyway because they ran out. What was I thinking, it was a 3-day sale. Malamang mauubusan ako.)

If only we had company outings like that all the time.

It's not even bikini season

  • Oct. 14th, 2007 at 1:15 PM

I found my perfect bikini yesterday. Usually, I wear shorts with my bikinis because I'm kind of insecure about showing my thunder thighs, but the bottom was reversible and was cut just right! It didn't squeeze my thighs and make them look like sausages (two huge slabs of ham lang hahahaha). It made me look like I had ABS, for crying out loud. And it was pink! It was perfect!

The price on the tag showed that it went for a little over P1K. Now usually, that's my ceiling price for bikinis. Kuripot na kung kuripot, hahaha, but yeah that's how I am. So I was thinking maybe just this once I should forget the ceiling price and just the buy the damn bikini.

Then I noticed there was another price tag.

Dayum. I mean, how could I not see that it had another price tag? Long story short. P3K lang naman siya. Bad trip. Nalulungkot ako.

And now I'm thinking if I should I go back for it, and if it's worth it. Hahaha.

What is wrong with me, I used to hate shopping.

I would've posted a photo of us up on stage with our trophies, but this is the only photo I have with the complete team. :(

What can I say? When you're really enjoying what you're doing, it shows, and it was a good thing the judges noticed that. Ben Tang (one of the judges who flew all the way from Singapore) actually did one of the tracks with us when we did our V-formation! Yung mga pagod biglang nabuhayan ng loob! Todo project to the highest level! We were actually supposed to cut the V-formation from our routine because of the lack of space, pero pasaway team namin eh. :p And I'd like to think that it was our pasaway-ness (and the obvious chemistry between our group) that won us the trophy. Hahaha. And after the track, Ben commented how our formation was really nice. Awwww. I heart you Ben. See you next year, if you're judging again. At kung Team Ortigas pa rin ako.

Man I love my team. I miss them already.

Ryan, you are such an awesome designer. I love our costumes. I still think that we have the best costumes out of all the other teams. Walang bias yan. Thanks din for being our cheerleader.

Congratulations to my team, Team OrTIGAS ("Team Tigaaaaaaas!!")! And to our super galing special awardees Paolo (Best Male, 2nd Runner Up), Freeze (Best Male), and Erin (Best Female), you totally deserve it! I'm so proud of you guys! Pasakay sa motor niyo. :p

And to Mindy, the best Team Leader everrrrrr. Salamat sa pag-tiyaga mo sa min, and for believing in us! We're gonna miss you! Ingat sa Dubai.

"We are an exceptionally awesome team and we will win! Spirit...has fifty times the strength and staying power of brawn and muscle. Fight! ;-p - see you guys tonight at 830pm!" - text ni Mindy sa buong team 2 weeks before the event. Talagang sinave ko yan. Hehehe.

//edit: Wheee someone blogged about our team! Hehehe. Natuwa lang ako. Click here.

//edit ulit: The quote above pala came from Oudine (one of my teammates). She needed to inspire Mindy and Ryan because they were getting tired na. Thanks so much to you Oudine, na-inspire talaga ako dun when Mindy forwarded it to us. :) You should be a motivational speaker hahahaha!

Saving this just in case my XDA decides to be stupid again and erase all my messages.

"We are an exceptionally awesome team and we will win! Spirit...has fifty times the strength and staying power of brawn and muscle. Fight! ;-p - see you guys tonight at 830pm!" - text message from our team leader/trainer Mindy. Go Team Ortigas!

I'm not too sure about the "exceptionally awesome team" part, though. She probably said that to inspire us, hahaha! But still, I think it worked. I think it's really nice how she's very supportive of us, even when she knows that the team needs a lot of endurance training.

Actual conversations to ah.

Me: Diba pag nakalubog ang tae mo masama yun? Dapat nakalutang?
Engel: Paano kapag kalahati nakalubog, kalahati nakalutang.
Poli: Hipan niyo na lang.
--------------------------------------------------------------
(At the office, after I came back from the restroom)
AR: Janine, pumapayat ka!
Me: Hindi, puro tae lang yun.
AR: You're so full of shit.
Me: Not anymore.
--------------------------------------------------------------
(Deryk on my YM status for the day: "same shit, different day")
Deryk: still brown and doughy eh?
Me: me?
Me: brown and doughy?
Deryk: no
Deryk: yung shit
Deryk: tas yung tunog pag nahuhulog sa toilet bowl
Deryk: "thp! thp!"
Deryk: (Sabihin mo with a whisper)
Deryk: try mo
Me: it's still brown...medyo mahaba so it kind of breaks off sa gitna
Me: =))
Deryk: :>
Me: hahaha sinubukan ko naman
Me: <--- uto uto
Deryk: kuha mo sound?
Deryk: hahaha
Deryk: pag tumae ka mamaya maaalala mo ako
Deryk: oh crap
Deryk: maaassociate mo ako sa tae :((

I don't get it

Is it such a big deal that I've never had a boyfriend all my life and that it really doesn't bother me if I stay single a while longer?

My gym friends seem to think so. :p

In other news, my dad and my brother are going through a Hiphop/R&B phase! It's fantastic. We don't argue about radio stations these days, except when my dad wants to listen to the news and Mike Enriquez is on. His voice is sooo annoying. Anyway, my dad can't stop listening to both versions of "Beautiful Girls". I don't care that the song's getting old, but it's fun when the three of us are singing in the car at the top of our lungs. Me singing the lyrics, Jay and dad doing the "echoes"...ang cute namin, hahahaha!

Last Monday, Fitness First Ortigas held a 2-hour Body Combat marathon that also served as an elimination round because they were putting together a 12 man team as representatives to the interbranch competition at the NBC Tent.

To make a long story short, I made it! The teams are composed of 6 guys and 6 girls, and I honestly thought I wouldn't get picked. One of the instructors told me that my form was pretty good, but come on, there are a lot of us who have great technique. I'm not even chummy with a lot of Body Combat instructors, and I also tend to take quick water breaks in between tracks. So when the (well dressed) competition started coming in, I felt a bit intimidated. Dinaan na lang sa tawa kahit kabado.

I feel proud of myself though. :p I hope Team Ortigas wins.

What I love and hate about my mom's business trips is that she always comes back with boxes of goodies. This time she brought home pastillas (the soft, sprinkled-with-sugar kind, my favorite), macaroons, polvoron, sampaloc candy, and brownies! Waaaaaah. I try to stay away from them but I keep coming back for more. Must. Resist. Temptation.

I've only had three sessions with him, but I liked him. Not too nice, just the right amount of taray to push me. Haaaaay.

Some people who have nothing better to do with their lives stole the phone cables/wires on our street. I think PLDT's refusing to replace them since it's the second time that this has happened.

Grrr. Thank goodness for cellphones, or the people on our street wouldn't have any contact with the outside world (haha exag). It's been 3 days since we haven't had internet at home! On the upside I'm getting more rest. Pwede na rin.

---

I've been listening to nothing but musicals lately. Little Women, Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah, Spring Awakening, and Legally Blonde (yes it's a musical now, and it's really cute hehe)...and the more I play the songs, the more I really want to be on Broadway (aaaay ambisyosa). If I could I'd take lessons in theatre acting alongside my voice lessons but I can only spend so much of my money and time. :(

Having to be in a job waaaaay different from the field that you really want to be in - that you know you're meant to be in - just so you can afford to be in that field...sucks so bad. (And I'm writing this in the office. How appropriate.)

Kalokohan!

Saan kaya ako makakakuha ng VCD o DVD nito?

Huwaaaaaat )

More Temptation Island goodness

//edit.
From IMDB: "Sadly, like most Filipino films made before the '90s, it is not available on video, and can be seen only on cable every now and then. When it's on, watch it!"

Awww mehn!
